Making communication the skill that changes everything
Hi, I’m Ruth Mthembu, a communication specialist, storyteller, and speaker on a mission to help professionals communicate with clarity, confidence, and tact.
My journey into the world of communication began in an unexpected place: law. Earning my law degree taught me the power of structure, precision, and critical thinking. But more importantly, it instilled in me the discipline to analyse, articulate, and advocate... skills that have become the cornerstone of how I approach communication today.
Over the years, I’ve shaped narratives, led campaigns, and built engagement strategies across sectors, from corporate and research to environmental advocacy. My work with organisations like the Africa Health Research Institute (AHRI), Mr Price Group, and WILDTRUST has refined my ability to translate complexity into clarity, craft stories that resonate across audiences, and use communication as a catalyst for cultural and behavioural change.
Along the way, I’ve had the privilege of speaking on the TEDx stage, producing an award-nominated documentary for the Science Film Festival, and co-leading creative campaigns that reached many, from the #Love10x20 initiative featuring actress Shailene Woodley, to the “Listen to the Ocean” TV campaign that aired on national TV.
But Tact-fully is where my passion meets purpose. I created this platform to help young professionals master the delicate dance of communication, not just to be heard, but to be understood. Through my blog, workshops, and consultancy services, I share practical tools, strategies, and real-world insights that empower individuals to thrive in their workplaces and make their message matter.
Because in the end, communication isn’t just about what we say. It’s about what people remember, repeat, and act upon. When done tact-fully, it can change everything.
Yours in tact,
Ruth Buhle Kimote Mthembu
